There are three types of subcutaneous wrinkle injections:

1. Muscle relaxants (Botox®)

This treatment smooths out expression lines. They typically include frown lines, horizontal forehead wrinkles and laugh lines. Other areas of treatment also include wrinkles in the corners of the mouth and the chin. Overuse of the expression muscles cause typical wrinkles to form in these areas. We have had the means to target these muscles and reduce tension for more than 20 years. Tiny amounts of the substance are injected into certain areas of the skin using extremely thin cannulas. The effect begins to show after 2–3 days and is fully developed after two weeks. It generally lasts 6 months.

2. Hyaluronic acid as a filler

The loss of elasticity and volume causes so-called nasolabial wrinkles, wrinkles in the corner of the mouth, lip wrinkles and cheek wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid is used here as a filler. Hyaluronic acid is injected into a certain level of the skin to plump up wrinkles, the effect of which can be seen immediately. The same procedure is also used to achieve fuller lips or to enhance the shape of the lips. The modern, synthetically produced hyaluronic acid is injected with fine cannulas. The duration of the effect depends on the selected consistency (depending on the type and depth of the wrinkles) and is between 6 and 18 months.

3. Hyaluronic acid as a volumiser

The third treatment group of injections is to improve the proportions of the face using volumising hyaluronic acid. Thanks to new products, the number of these treatments being performed has increased rapidly in recent years. The special cannulas are so gentle on the skin that this type of treatment in particular can be performed with almost no swelling or bruising. Typical treatment areas include the middle of the face, the cheekbone area, the cheeks and the chin. This special hyaluronic acid lasts considerably longer due to its thicker consistency – around 24 months.
